Access Amite County Civil Court Dockets

Start your Amite County civil docket search by knowing which court holds the case, because Circuit, Chancery, and Justice Court each keep their own civil records. Circuit and Chancery cases can be reached remotely through the state electronic system. Lower-court matters go through the Justice Court Clerk. Remember that a docket tracks filings, hearings, and orders over the life of a case. It is not a final answer on its own. For the current result, read the newest entry together with any signed judgment or order that follows it.

Amite County Civil Docket Searches

Figure out the court first. Then go online. PAMEC is the remote public route into participating Circuit and Chancery MEC cases. It is no substitute for a Justice Court request. A public login is required. The exact post-login party, case, and date fields stay hidden from anonymous visitors. An exact case number helps a great deal. Without one, a clerk can help you pin down the court, the caption, and the rough filing year.

The official PAMEC registration gateway opens public account access. It is a paid, read-only source for non-restricted electronic records. One caution: an empty Circuit or Chancery result does not prove no case exists. The matter could sit in a lower court, be restricted, be older, or belong to a different court entirely.

The public login shows a username, a password, and a client-code field. It also offers paths for a PAMEC public user or an MEC filer. Exact Amite search tabs and filters appear only after login. Search with what you have. Before treating a hit as the right civil case, compare the court, the case style, the filing date, and the party roles. The electronic register is great for locating a case and its history. But a clerk-certified document remains the authoritative paper.

  1. Identify whether the matter belongs in Circuit, Chancery, or Justice Court.
  2. Use the correct MEC court host and PAMEC account for electronic Circuit or Chancery cases.
  3. Compare the case header, court, party roles, filing date, and event history.
  4. Read the newest setting, order, or judgment rather than an older entry.
  5. Ask the responsible clerk for a docket sheet, a particular document, or a certified copy.

Amite Circuit and Chancery Civil Dockets

Circuit Court serves as Amite's general civil trial court. It handles matters not assigned elsewhere plus appeals from lower courts. The Circuit Clerk keeps the complaints, summonses and process, motions, orders, judgments, executions, and appeal records. Chancery Court is separate. It handles equity, family, probate, land, and guardianship work. Its docket is kept by the Chancery Clerk. Amite lists no County Court in the current official directory. So do not assume a separate County Court civil database when you search.

Justice CourtSmall claims and other lower-court civil matters; contact Justice Court Clerk Melanie Netterville at 601-657-4527.

The Amite Circuit Court page and the county Chancery Court page lay out this split in civil jurisdiction.

Civil Dockets: What They Show

A civil docket opens with a complaint or petition. From there it records process, service, answers, motions, hearing notices, orders, and later enforcement or appeal entries. Once you open the correct electronic record or request the register from the clerk, look for these event families in the Amite entries.

Amite Chancery Docket Custody and Copies

The Chancery Clerk is Jana Causey, listed at 243 W. Main St., P.O. Box 680, Liberty, MS 39645, with phone 601-657-8022. Her county page names the office as keeper of the records for estates, guardianships, conservatorships, divorce, child custody, adoptions, property disputes, and related equity matters. Fourth Chancery MEC reports that Amite Chancery Court went live in 2016, so PAMEC can serve as the electronic route for non-restricted files. The Amite Chancery Clerk page spells out these office and record duties.

Amite County Chancery Clerk office for civil court docket records

The clerk keeps the court file behind every Chancery docket. That office is your route to a plain or certified copy. Electronic views sometimes fall short.

For clerk-made Chancery copies, the current state fee source sets $0.50 per page. A copy made by another person runs $0.25 per page. Certification adds $1 per complete document. Those figures come from the Chancery Clerk rule, so confirm them locally before paying. Circuit and Justice copy fees are set separately. No Amite-specific docket-copy or certified-copy request form exists. So a phone call settles both questions at once.

Make the request useful by stating the venue, the case number or caption, and the document name. Add the date range, whether you need a plain or certified copy, your preferred delivery method, and your contact information. Always ask for the current fee estimate before sending payment. That matters most for a civil record outside the Chancery clerk-made copy schedule.

What Cases Fill the Civil Docket

Chancery dockets can carry domestic-relations, estate, guardianship, adoption, title, property, and equity matters. Circuit dockets take general civil disputes and appeals. Subject matter matters more than any simple dollar test. The county's Chancery material references property disputes over $50,000. But that local description should not route every case by amount alone. When the court assignment is unclear, ask the clerk. The county Chancery Court page describes its family, probate, land, and equity work.

That division of subject matter is why the right clerk is the first key to locating any Amite civil docket.

Amite Justice Court Small-Claims Dockets

For small claims and similar civil matters, Justice Court is the route in Amite County. It is not Circuit or Chancery. Small claims run up to $3,500 statewide. Amite's Justice Court also handles civil suits and delinquent mobile-home taxes. Its civil docket holds more than one kind of case. Ask the Justice Court Clerk for these records. They will not surface in the MEC search that covers Circuit and Chancery dockets.

The clerk can tell you whether you need a docket sheet, a pleading, an order, or a certified copy. Call 601-657-4527 first, since Justice Court posts no separate counter address or hours. Have the case number or party name ready. Add the rough year and the type of civil matter. Remember that Justice Court keeps its own record stream apart from the electronic Circuit and Chancery dockets.

Hearings on the Civil Docket

The civil register can list a notice of setting. It can also list a motion hearing, docket call, conference, trial, or settlement event. A reset or continuance often leaves the old date in the history. So read the newest setting in context, not the first one you spot. If the latest entry says continued, reset, passed, or canceled, confirm with the clerk. Do that before treating any listed date as active. When a motion has been decided, the signed order is what matters.

For Circuit civil matters, call 601-657-8932. For Chancery matters, call 601-657-8022. Give the court name, case number, style, and current setting. The Amite court schedule page walks through the date-confirmation workflow across these courts.

Amite PAMEC Civil Docket Access

PAMEC serves participating Circuit and Chancery courts. Amite Chancery went live in 2016, and Amite Circuit followed in 2025. Remote public use costs a $10 annual account plus $0.20 per generated page. A no-match result still counts. You can skip that remote charge by viewing MEC files at the clerk's office during regular business hours, subject to restriction rules. Amite offers no anonymous civil search form, public field list, or sample record. An account is the remote route.

The PAMEC public terms lay out the account, billing, document, and restricted-case model. Documents appear in non-restricted cases. A docket sheet is not the same as a certified court record, though.

Federal civil cases sit outside Amite's state court records. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi is the official federal portal. It is not a substitute for MEC or the county clerks.

Its PACER and CM/ECF tools cover federal matters only. Amite Circuit and Chancery civil dockets stay within the state court system.

Who Can See Civil Dockets

Plenty of Circuit and Chancery docket sheets and non-restricted documents are viewable. You can reach them through PAMEC or at the clerk's office. Access still answers to MEC procedures, statutes, and case-specific orders. Adoption, Youth Court, protected family information, sealed exhibits, and personal identifiers may be withheld. Some may be redacted instead. A public result is a case register. It is not permission to obtain every document in the file.

Access sources:

Mississippi Public Records Act supplies the state’s general public-record framework, while court-branch access is also governed by court rules.

MEC Administrative Procedures describe public remote access, free clerk-office viewing, privacy protections, and restrictions.

For a document that is not available remotely, ask the custodian clerk whether a redacted or segregable version can be inspected or copied.

Amite Civil Docket Outcomes Need Judgment

Entries like default judgment, agreed order, nonsuit, DWOP, and APPEAL flag important events. The signed judgment or order remains the authoritative outcome document. After a judgment, the register can keep moving. Look for an abstract, execution, garnishment, satisfaction, payment, or notice of appeal. Ask the clerk for the exact order you need rather than trusting a status word.

DWOP means dismissed for want of prosecution. Amite has published no local code list decoding every abbreviation in the display. APPEAL is an MEC status flag showing that an appeal event exists. The notice or order supplies the details. A default judgment follows a missed required response or appearance. An agreed judgment or order comes after the parties submit or consent to a resolution. Read each result with the entered document itself.

The Natchez Division page identifies the federal courthouse serving that federal division.
